Rapala Pro Fishing - FAQs
Q. I am currently playing this game and have completed level 12 but the next competition(s) are still locked. Can you please advise?
A. When you play in tournaments, there will be a certain objective to meet before you can qualify for the next round. So to make sure you qualify for the next tournament, when the tournament is highlighted on the level select screen, read the information about the tournament and it will let you know what you need to achieve in order to qualify for the next tournament.
Q. I purchased a Fishing Rod Controller to use with Rapala but it doesn?t seem to work.
A. Rapala Pro Fishing was designed to use mouse and keyboard and is not compatible with any other peripherals, USB joysticks or fishing rods.
Q. I am stuck on the California Bass tournament level. When I use the lure the man tells me to use I see no fish, if I use another lure I see fish but get no bites.
A. To catch the Striped Bass use the husky jerk clown. Try to cast around weeds or even in a deep hole, especially if it is sunny. Remember if you latch on to a big fish, set your drag to about 3. You will need to catch 75" or more with your 3 longest fish to continue past this round.
Q. Rapala Pro Fishing will not start after the intro. The display goes dark and an 'Out Of Frequency & Opertaing Frequency Error' is coming up on the screen?
A. There is a known fix to this problem with the game trying to use a higher refresh rate than it can do.
You need to find a file called 'Console.cfg' that is located in your game's install folder (My Computer -> C:\Program Files\ActivisionValue\MagicWand\Rapala\Rapala\Cfg) inside the \Cfg folder. It might be easiest to just do a search from the start menu for 'Console.cfg'.
Once you find that file, open it up with notepad or wordpad. You will see a series of lines, the 5th line says "addvar r_windowed int; r_windowed = 0". You're going to want to change that to "addvar r_windowed int; r_windowed = 1". Make sure you save the file and that it asks you to replace it when you save.
Then you can start the game. It may not take up the whole screen, but you can fix that by going into the main menu and increasing the resolution.
Q. When the game starts, I see all the introduction clips but then I get an Exception Error.
A. There is a known fix to the problem that you have experienced and if you follow the instructions below, you will be able to resolve it.
What you're going to need to do is find the file called 'Console.cfg'. This is located in your game's install folder (My Computer -> C:\Program Files\ActivisionValue\MagicWand\Rapala\Rapala\Cfg) inside the \Cfg folder. It might be easiest to just do a search from the start menu for 'Console.cfg'. Once you find that file, open it up with notepad or wordpad.
You will see a series of lines, the 5th line says: "addvar r_windowed int; r_windowed = 0". You're going to want to change that to: "addvar r_windowed int; r_windowed = 1".
Towards the bottom of the file (scroll down) you'll see two lines: "addvar rWaterReflect int; rWaterReflect = 1" and "addvar rWaterRefract int; rWaterRefract = 1" . You're going to want to change those to: "addvar rWaterReflect int; rWaterReflect = 0" and "addvar rWaterRefract int; rWaterRefract = 0".
Make sure you save the file and that it asks you to replace it when you save. Then you can start the game. It will not take up the whole screen, but you can fix that by going into the options menu from the main menu and increasing the resolution.
